Since being elected in 2016, President Trump has seated 3 Supreme Court Justices. And with the confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Monday evening, the left outrage machine has shifted into overdrive crying to expand or pack the court!
In their minds, packing the court with like-minded, activist Supreme Court Judges would make it “even” in the face of originalist judges picked by Republican presidents. The difference being huge:
Activist Judges have historically helped establish ‘progressive’ laws by-passing the role of the Legislative branch of Government. You know, the one the American people vote in to create law and get to vote out if they don’t like what they are doing. Activist Judges also prefer to by-pass the pesky constitution and find inspiration in fad social theories and law from other countries.
Originalist Judges tend to rule based on how current cases before them should be interpreted by the United States Constitution. As originally understood. Period.
You see the problem. What nerds!
Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex, the de facto head of the DNC, has been vocal on the issue. In public appearances and on social media, AOC has pushed the issue to the forefront of American political discussions.
The distinguished Congress Lady from New York (Queens & the Bronx districts), said, “The GOP isn’t convinced the Democrats have the stomach to do battle and fight hard for what they want. Republicans do this because they don’t believe Dems have the stones to play hardball like they do,”
Before dipping his toe into the political arena, President Trump wrote a best-selling book, “The Art of the Deal”. Today, he showed why he’s the king of deal-making.
He listens to his opponents and is willing to compromise.
During a campaign rally in Omigosh, Wisconsin, President Trump announced he “feels sooo bad” about upsetting his liberal detractors. Soooo bad, he wants to give them want they want so much. A packed court.
To the cheering and jeering crowd Trump crowed, “I’ve said all along, I had a great deal of time between now and even after the election to seat a new Supreme Court Justice. And I did it. Nobody said, I could, but I did. Now, I’m thinking… let’s use allllll that time to seat a few more!”
“I’ve submitted 6 names to crazy old Mitch in the Senate. Look! We have 84 days between now and January 20th. I mean, I’ll STILL be President after the 20th, but …we’re having fun with the cry baby lefties, here. There is nothing in law that prevents me from nominating more than one person at a time. Just because it’s never been done before doesn’t mean I can’t do it!”
The President is correct in saying he has plenty of time. Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg was confirmed in only 40 days. And he is correct there is nothing legally preventing him from packing the court or doing it scorched-earth style.
We believe, however, once they get over the shock, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats will be sorry they gave President Trump the idea.
