Zelensky is latest CNN hero

Roll over Cuomo and Fauci. There’s a new hero over at CNN named Zelensky. Roll over and tell Creepy Porn Lawyer the news.CNN reported, “Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is like the West’s moral conscience, with his daily video commentary highlighting his country’s heroism in resisting a Russian invasion that has degenerated into murderous barrages against civilians.

“But while he’s making it impossible to look away from his nation’s agony, Zelensky is increasingly running headlong into the war’s harsh reality: President Joe Biden and European leaders face political and geopolitical red lines that Russian President Vladimir Putin, a nuclear-armed tyrant, simply does not in his relentless destruction.

“Soaring oil prices are also playing into the underlying equation of the war: Will Western pressure strangle the Russian economy and force Putin’s hand before Ukraine and its people are destroyed or driven to a mass refugee exodus? And how long can public opinion in the US and Europe hold firm?

“Zelensky’s poignant appeals have made lawmakers in the US and Europe cry on video calls, revived the West from its post-Cold War slumber and captivated the world with his defense of democracy. He’s the antipode to the cruelty of Putin. If one man ever changed the world, few have done so as quickly as Zelensky.”

He has changed the world — and quicker than anyone.

Well, anyone since Tony Fauci.

Remember him? He was king of the world in 2020. Never mind that his masks, vax and social distancing did nothing to stop the virus, he was the King of Covid.

CNN reported back then, “Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key member of the White House coronavirus task force, inspired the romantic hero in Happy Endings, a 1991 bestselling romance novel.

“Author Sally Quinn says she was looking for the perfect character to romance her protagonist, who was recently widowed in the second novel, when she met Fauci.”

As the covid crisis drags on and the public rebels against his unconstitutional and ineffective mandates, Fauci has been placed in the Idiots Protection Program.

He was a CNN hero just like Andrew Cuomo.

CNN reported back then, “Thrust into the national spotlight by his state’s status as the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the United States, New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has rapidly become one of — if not the — single most popular politician in the country for his handling of the pandemic.

“Cuomo’s poll numbers are, literally, unbelievable. A new Siena College poll released this week showed Cuomo’s overall favorability among New Yorkers at 77% while 71% approved of the job he is doing for the state. Asked who they trusted more to make the right decision about when to reopen New York, 78% chose Cuomo while 16% opted for President Donald Trump.”

It turned out Cuomo couldn’t be trusted with the womenfolk. The scandal was so big that not only did it cost him the governorship but it also cost his brother Fredo his gig at CNN.

But the biggest CNN hero of all time has to be Michael Avenatti.

In 2018, he was as constant a fixture on CNN as James Earl Jones intoning, “This Is CNN.”

CNN’s Chris Cillizza reported back then, “Late on the night of November 8, 2016 – to be honest, it might have been the early hours of November 9 – I made a pledge to myself: Never say never when it comes to people running for president.

“After all, Donald Trump, had just been elected President of the United States. A man who has done the opposite of what conventional wisdom dictated in every situation during the campaign. A man with a, um, colorful past – and present. A man who said all sorts of impolitic things. Over and over again.

“Two-and-a-half years removed from my pledge came the news that Michael Avenatti, the man who has emerged in the national consciousness as the lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels, is considering running against Trump in 2020.”

When he gets out of prison, Avenatti can still run in 2024. Felons cannot vote but they can run for president.

But CNN has moved on from Avenatti, Cuomo and Fauci. There’s a new Superman at the cable TV equivalent of the Daily Planet. His name is Volodymyr Zelensky. He comes without a creepy porn star, a creepy brother or a creepy disease.

I wish him luck because he just became a CNN hero
