The Party of Fetterman

Even before his stroke rendered him too incapacitated to serve in the Senate, John Fetterman was an unusually flawed candidate, much like the Democrat nominee for president in 2020. There is a reason Democrats chose imbeciles. They are easier to control.Fox reported, “NBC News correspondent Dasha Burns reported Tuesday that John Fetterman, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, still has “a hard time understanding what he’s hearing” ahead of the midterm elections.

“Burns appeared on MSNBC’s Katy Tur Reports to preview her exclusive interview with the lieutenant governor, which will air in its entirety on Wednesday. Both Burns and Tur noted that this would mark the first time that Fetterman has sat down for a one-on-one interview with a reporter since his stroke in May.

The stroke makes normal communication impossible.

Burns said, “We had a monitor set up so he could read my questions because he still has lingering auditory processing issues as a result of the stroke, which means he has a hard time understanding what he’s hearing.

“Now, once he reads the question, he’s able to understand. You’ll hear he also still has some problems, some challenges with speech. I’ll say that just in some of the small talk prior to the interview, before the closed captioning was up and running, it did seem that he had a hard time understanding our conversations.”

Democrats should have replaced him this summer. Now it is too late.

AP’s rewrite was headline, “NBC reporter’s comment about Fetterman draws criticism.”

By choosing to focus on the reporter and not the candidate, AP indeed is signaling that any mention of Fetterman’s incapacitation is off limits.

The wire service reported, “An NBC News correspondent who interviewed Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman says an on-air remark she made about him having difficulty following part of their conversation should not be seen as a commentary on his fitness for office after he suffered a stroke.

“But reporter Dasha Burns’ comment that Fetterman appeared to have trouble understanding small talk prior to their interview has attracted attention — and Republicans have retweeted it as they seek an advantage in the closely followed Senate race between Fetterman and Republican Mehmet Oz.

“Fetterman, a Democrat, suffered a stroke on May 13, and his health has emerged as a major issue in the campaign.

“Burns’ Friday interview with Fetterman, which aired Tuesday, was his first on-camera interview since his stroke. He used a closed-captioning device that printed text of Burns’ questions on a computer screen in front of him.

“Fetterman appeared to have little trouble answering the questions after he read them, although NBC showed him fumbling for the word empathetic. Burns said that when the captioning device was off, ‘it wasn’t clear he was understanding our conversation.'”

Fetterman is a failed mayor of a failed town who did not deserve the lieutenant governorship.

Democrats embraced him because he is controllable, especially after his stroke. Just as Ruth Ginsburg was a tool of her law clerks in her dotage — and just as Biden largely is a figurehead and a conduit for corruption — Fetterman will be run by his staff. He will show up, vote and issue press releases.

Salena Zito covered a Fetterman rally. He spoke for 10 minutes.

She wrote, “Fetterman went on with several stumbles over the next 10 minutes. He talked about sandwiches, salads, French fries on salads, more salads, how Dr. Oz is rooting for him to stay sick, and his most reliable tropes: crudites and protecting marriage equality. He said that Oz wanted to ban abortion with no exceptions and that he reduced crime while mayor of the borough of Braddock.

“Then, he left the stage.

“It speaks volumes that none of the speakers, including Fetterman himself, addressed the issues that polls show to be of utmost importance to the voters in this state — inflation, increasing crime and the drug epidemic.”

He’s damaged goods. Democrats are fine with that. What they are not fine with is someone pointing that out.Burns made the mistake of actually reporting, which now is a sin in national journalism. She should have just read the script the Democrats gave her.
